Take an Active Part in Your Water Company

The three neighborhoods covered by the IHMWC

Did you know that you and your neighbors are owners of the Irish Hills Mutual Water Company? You are represented by Board members who are all volunteers that help keep our water supply safe and reliable. The current Board consists of:

Grant Fraysier—Board President
Barry Langdon-Lassagne—Secretary/Treasurer
George Truppelli, Ed Thoma—Members at Large

With the retirement of David Chivens, our longtime Secretary/Treasurer, there is a new opening on the Board and we are now considering applicants. If you would like to take an active role in your water company and plan for our future, please send an email outlining your qualifications to info@irishhillswater.org. We are especially interested in residents with knowledge of utility management, accounting, contracting, or experience on non-profit Boards.

Read the Bylaws of the IHMWC here.

Fire Hydrant Flushing

Board member Barry Langdon-Lassagne flushing a hydrant on Via Laguna Vista

Over the next few weeks, we are preparing to inspect and flush the fire hydrants in our neighborhoods. Periodically flushing our hydrants verifies that they are working properly and can be used by firefighters as needed.

Secondarily, flushing the hydrants can help clear accumulated iron and mineral deposits from our water lines, resulting in higher quality water for all of us.

Fire hydrant flushing may cause temporary inconveniences such as a reduction in water pressure and aesthetic issues like discoloration of the water in your home. Discolored water poses no health threat, but it can stain laundry and may taste unpleasant. If you notice discolored water in your plumbing, please flush a cold water tap for approximately 5 minutes until the water runs clear again.

If you experience continued loss of pressure or water discoloration even after flushing your cold water, please contact us at 805-546-1305 or info@irishhillswater.com.

The Irish Hills Mutual Water Company is a non-profit Mutual Benefit Corporation, established in 1987 to provide water for drinking and landscaping to the residences of Laguna Hills Park, the Emerald Hills Estates HOA, and the Valle Vista Ranch HOA in San Luis Obispo County.

Call Before You Dig!

Any time you plan to dig anywhere on your property, you need to ensure you are not disturbing underground water pipes, electrical lines, gas lines, telephone wires, television/network cables, or any other utilities. The process is simple: mark the digging area with white spray paint, then dial 811 or go to https://usanorth811.org
